Letter from the High School Principal

The mission of Colegio Interamericano is to prepare students to receive the Bachilerato of Guatemala and the standard US High School diploma. The School seeks to provide opportunities for students to grow intellectually, to achieve academic excellence, to be responsible, to think critically, to be creative, and to develop moral integrity.

Global education from a multi-cultural perspective is the dream and desire of most schools in the world today. An international, bilingual school such as Colegio Interamericano prepares its students for the challenges of life in Guatemala, Central America and the greater global community.

Our students go on to study at local colleges, fluent in their native language, yet correspondingly adept in English and familiar with the culture of the United States. Others choose to attend colleges and universities in the United States, Canada, Central America, Latin America or Europe, able to learn at a high level in the host language, but equally proud to be ambassadors from Guatemala. Recent grads have attended Purdue University, the University of Michigan, Notre Dame, Central Arkansas, Florida State, Evansville, and schools in Barcelona, Madrid, Monterey, and Vancouver. Our students strive to be leaders in the worlds of commerce, law, medicine, and engineering. They are broadly educated, bilingual and often multi-lingual, many-faceted individuals who are eager to succeed both in their own local communities and in the world. An educational experience at Colegio Interamericano produces young scholars and leaders ready for the challenges of a complex and diversified world.
